Custom Printed Tiles: How Your Picture Becomes a Tile Mural

A favourite landscape in your shower. Your family crest at the entrance. A wall that tells visitors who you are.

PicturedTile prints your photos, artwork and logos on ceramic or porcelain tiles, then glazes and kiln-fires the design. Individual tiles can form one larger picture for a backsplash, wall mural or floor feature. We print in Canada for home and commercial projects. No minimum order.

Could Your Picture Work on Tile?

Send your image, approximate finished dimensions and a photo of the space. Tell us whether it is a wall or floor, indoors or outdoors. We can discuss the artwork, tile options and a quote.

How Custom Tile Printing Works

  1. Start with your image and space. Send the best-quality original file you have, the overall dimensions and how the area will be used. Use artwork you own or have permission to reproduce.
  2. Plan the tile layout. We discuss tile sizes, image proportions, grout lines and placement. A face, logo or important detail needs careful positioning across tile joints. The artwork and intended print size help determine what is possible.
  3. Print, glaze and kiln-fire. We use ceramic printing followed by glazing and kiln firing for a durable printed finish. If you want to assess the physical result before a larger order, ask about a paid kiln-fired prototype.
  4. Have your installer fit the tiles. Mural tiles are numbered and supplied with a layout map. Your installer checks the substrate, tile, adhesive, grout and any waterproofing required for the location.

Picture the Possibilities

The examples below show how an image changes a space: a shower becomes a waterfall scene, a kitchen gains a floral backdrop, and a business wall becomes part of its identity.

Vintage Artwork, a Different Atmosphere

A period advertisement or illustrated scene can bring a particular era into a room. These examples show how colour, subject and tile layout work together. Choose an image you have permission to reproduce, and tell us the mood you want to create.

A monogram, wedding date or meaningful image does not need a whole wall. Explore personalized wedding favours, custom coasters and printed plates and platters. Ask us which ceramic or porcelain shape suits your idea.

Will Your Image Fit the Space?

You do not need to work out every tile before contacting us. Share the width and height, a photograph of the area and any doors, sockets, fixtures or corners the design needs to work around.

We can discuss ceramic or porcelain formats up to 12 × 18 inches and smaller cut pieces, depending on the project. Several tiles combine to make a larger mural. Artwork quality, image proportions and the location guide the layout.

For spa walls, showers or other wet areas, tell us about water exposure and cleaning requirements. We supply the printed tiles; your installer plans the waterproofing and installation appropriate to the site.

Thinking About a Fireplace Feature?

Artwork on tile can form a decorative wall above or around a fireplace. Share the appliance details and proposed tile location before ordering. Kiln firing alone does not establish suitability near a heat source: your installer must follow the fireplace manufacturer's clearances and material requirements.

Photographic wall-tile mural being installed in a commercial washroom

From Numbered Tiles to a Finished Mural

This commercial washroom photograph shows a tile mural during installation. Each mural tile has a position in the supplied layout map, helping your installer assemble the picture in the intended order.

Before fitting, check the layout and plan cuts around fixtures. Grout and adhesive choices depend on the tile, joint width and installation system. Your installer should confirm the complete specification, including waterproofing for wet areas and slip resistance where relevant for floors.

Custom Printed Tile Questions

Is there a minimum order?

No. You can start with one tile or a small feature. For a larger project, ask about purchasing a physical kiln-fired prototype to assess the printed result.

What picture should I send?

Send the best-quality original photo, logo or artwork you have, along with the intended finished dimensions. We review the file for the proposed print size. A small image may not hold its detail when enlarged.

Can printed tiles go outdoors or on a floor?

Yes, with tile and finish selection suited to the intended use. Tell us about weather, moisture and foot traffic so we can discuss options. Explore outdoor printed tiles and custom floor tiles.

Do you install the tiles?

We supply the printed tiles and mural layout map. You arrange installation with a qualified installer who checks the site and installation requirements.

What determines the quote and timing?

The size, tile format, quantity, artwork, finish and delivery destination help define your project. Include your preferred date when you enquire so we can discuss pricing and timing for your order.

Can the same idea go on dishes or mugs?

Yes. Explore our printed plates and platters, PhotoPlates custom tableware and PrintINmugs custom mugs. You can also visit Paris Group or upload artwork through AllPictured.
